Fiskarettes

Hi there, well a lot has happened since my last post. I am now on the Design Team for Fiskarettes. I am responsible for posts highlighting jewellery, home decor etc. I am hoping to show lots of ideas that use papercrafting tools in different ways. I also like producing items that are quick and cheap to produce. My first post is now available to view on www.fiskarettes.co.uk

Although this first item is a little more involved it is not difficult and blings up a candle holder that I bought in Ikea last week for just 9p. My next project will be online next week and will use items that you definitely already have hanging around the house. It also makes a cheap small gift so watch this space.

The fiskarettes blog has loads of ideas for cards and scrapbooking as well so have a look....

Right, that's it.. time to get organised.

Briony has decided that she wishes to spend her 17th Birthday on Thursday with her 'mates'. Apparently they are cooler than me... and after her exam success she doesn't even need me for my money. Her bank account is full with congratulations. She is planning a long trip to Bristol's new Primark.

Fern is back to school on Friday, and I will be back into the old routines. Work, housework, Tuesday afternoon at one friend's house crafting and Thursday afternoons with Beadmad crafting.

I am going to organise the spare/craft room tomorrow and reclaim it from Briony who has completely taken over this desk. That was allowed during GSCE revision but no longer.

I shall then get on with Christmas cards and some other ideas that have been floating around all summer.

I have bought loads of beads recently and am going to start putting these to use. I have also had other ideas for alternative beads. I will post these over the next few weeks (months!).

I also need to dust off the iron and prepare school uniform. I have done away with little name labels. Instead I used a permanent fabric pen to write the relevant name in large letters on the inside of the neck ribbing at the back and iron it to make it permanent. This method only works on polo shirts and sweatshirts as the fabric is thick enough for it not to show through, but it does mean that even Fern doesn't lose uniform.

I was very tempted to do a layout for the Fiskarettes monday challenge today instead of sorting but the mess in the spare room reminded me that I should stick to my original plan for tomorrow.

Perhaps if I get all done I shall reward myself with a little scrapbook layout at the end of the day... or perhaps I should do my first Christmas card.... or maybe I could do something with the new ' crystal' beads... or maybe.....

First Ever Post!!!

Well, here it is, my first ever posting on my first ever blog!

My daughter has slaved over a hot keyboard demonstrating that her education is not a complete waste of time and set up this blog for me at very short notice. It has also helped to keep her mind off the GCSE results due out in exactly 12 hours.

She informs me that she will produce an even better blog for me soon.....

I have spent the last 24 hours buying the last bits and bobs (hopefully) for my Christmas cards. I have had requests already!

Sat here at my computer desk I just got a waft of some lovely smell and asked Briony (my eldest daughter) why I could smell America. It turned out to be a scented candle that we bought on holiday in October 2007. It is 'Christmas Pudding Spice' flavour and bought back memories of our holiday. All the shops seemed to smell of cinnamon and spiced apple pie etc as they were full of Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas stuff. Isn't it funny how a smell can bring back really strong memories.

I shall keep this short and sweet, mainly because I have my doubts that anyone will read it anyway! I wonder if it is possible to buy pumpkin pie in Yate, I have a sudden craving.
